Psalm 46:1-2

With the recent onslaught of typhoons hitting our country, one can't help but think why God is allowing this to happen? Devastation everywhere...

But there is one thing I definitely saw and learned from this experience, God is there even if we feel that he is not. God is there even when all else have failed. He never forsakes us! And it is from him that we gather strength each day...

Psalm 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

What great points. I've been listening to a series on Job sharing many of these points. This made a great addition to them. Thank you :)

Of course it is always devasting when peoples homes and possessions gets ruined.

You wrote: “God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.”

You quote a translation of Tehillim (“Psalm”) 46.

I think Tehillim 46 (“Psalm”) is very nice. So how to get the Creator to be one’s refuge and strength – which is written in Psalm 46?

David, who wrote the Tehillim, knew that in order to get the Creator to be “one’s very present help in trouble”, one need to do ones sincerest to keep Torah – which contains the instructions of the Creator.

Tehilim 103:
“Who forgiveth all thine iniquity; who healeth all thy diseases”
“Who redeemeth thy life from the pit; who encompasseth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.”

And later on we read: “To such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His precepts to do them.”

The forgiveness from iniquity (defined in Torah as transgression of the commandments in Torah) and the encompassion with “lovingkindness and tender mercies”, are promised to those who keep His berit (“covenant”).

So what is His berit (“covenant”) defined as? To be included in the berit Torah defines one must do ones sincerest to keep the mitzwot (commandments) in Torah.

So how to know that Torah contains the instructions of the Creator? It is possible to deduce that using logic. This is also what Ribi Yehoshua (the Messiah) from Nazareth taught. His teachings are found here (and the logical proof): www.netzarim.co.il

Have a very nice weekend!!
