WFW - Psalm 139:14

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

God has created us with thought and with a plan. Just like how my daughter thought about how to create this little person out of a clay, God put details and really has plans for each one of us that He has created.

This photo was taken during one of our homeschooling activities and it reminded me that God has really made me unique and special!

Thankful Thursday #28

This week, I am thankful to God because someone has agreed to teach my daughter Kyla the basics of playing the piano for free. This will be considered as her music class. What a blessing!

Last Sunday, I was able to spend some time with my parents. I am thankful that when I told them that we are homeschooling, my parents didn't react negatively. It has been my prayer that my mom and dad would receive this news with peace in their hearts and I was really thankful that I didn't really hear too much objection from them.

Fescue Grass: The Best Choice for your Lawn

If you are looking for an all-purpose grass that thrives in a variety of climates, fescue grass is a perfect choice. Originating in Europe, fescue grass thrives in temperate climates but can flourish in almost any climate. Fescue grass is famous for its durability, growing in both shade and direct sunlight. This robust, tall-grain grass is also ideal for pasturing and for ornamental landscaping. Fescue grass can last for days without being watered and is sustainable for extended periods of drought, often retaining its moisture for weeks, restoring its natural beauty after a few hours of watering.

Fescue includes a variety of sub-breeds that are often sold together as seed blends. Popular seed blends include Kentucky Bluegrass and Ryegrass, however inter-species seed blending is popular as well. Fescue grass includes many varieties such as tall fescue, creeping red, and hard fescue. While there are a variety of seed blends and sub-breeds all fescue varieties grow extremely well in the shade, stay green all year, and are resistant to drought.

Tall fescue is split into two categories: old and new. Old tall fescue is a great choice for pasturelands, while new tall fescue is an ideal choice for lawns. New fescue differs from old fescue in blade structure, disease resistance, and mowing capabilities. Old fescue is easy to plant and forget about, being hardy and resistant to drought. Red creeping fescue grows quickly and can act as a gorgeous lawn cover while the other seeds in the blend are growing in. Hard fescue stays the greenest all year and requires little watering or maintenance.

Whatever breed you choose to go with fescue grass is a sure bet to a gorgeous, thick lawn that stays green all year.

On Evaluations and Assessments

We have been homeschooling for the past 3 weeks now. We have somewhat adjusted our daily routines already. I know and I acknowledge that it is only through the grace of God that we are able to homeschool effectively.

This week, we have been having our quizzes on most of our subjects. Some of the teacher’s guides have built in test questionnaire but most of the time, I have to be the one who will create the test questions. I know that I need to implement a fair and open testing so that I can really evaluate whether my daughter has learned anything from what we studied together. I read the article A Better Way to Assess Students and Evaluate Schools and it really has some information on how to assess the kids other than using tests. Instead of focusing on standardized tests, we must check the work done by the students.

So whenever I want to create test, I can use websites such as ProProfs Quiz Maker. It is a free quiz maker which has many features like security, scoring and time limits. There are over 6 types of quizzes to choose from and you can add videos and images to make the quiz more interesting too! The exam builder results can also be analyzed through stats and reports.

This is a very useful tool for homeschoolers, and it is also available for corporations to use.

WFW - Ephesians 4:29

(got this image from http://oneyearbibleimages.com/)

As a mom, we are to be role models to our kids. Our kids are like sponges, they absorb anything we tell them and they imitate most of our actions and words. We need to be careful.. and watch ourselves. This is a timely reminder for me. We have just started homeschooling and I really want to pass on good character to my kids. I also need to watch myself and the words I say to them when I get tired and frustrated...

Knowing What Makes up Your Credit Score

A credit score is much like the wind; you don't quite understand how it works and sometimes wish it weren't there, but ultimately it is an unavoidable part of your life and you need it more than you would ever admit. In fact, there are many who have no idea what the score really means, other than it seems to be the key indicator for consumers looking to buy a car, house, or open a line of credit. The fact is that many factors can affect your credit—too many to list in one place without a couple forests-worth of paper. Furthermore, your score is used for more than just determining your ability to handle the responsibility of a loan. Many employers will use credit information as a means to help make hiring decisions, and many professionally qualified people have lost employment opportunities due to one or two bad marks on their report.

Needless to say, protecting and maintaining your credit information and ensuring that the information is accurate is critical. There are easily accessible resources that help the public find out their score and educate them as to how to bolster that number and use it to the utmost advantage.

There are several online Consumer Credit Information Management (CCIM) sites that can provide a customer with his or her credit report at any time from the three national credit bureaus and help them understand how that score was calculated. In addition, many of these sites will provide a variety of credit-related services and show customers how best to review and protect their credit on a consistent basis. Many will also help setup automatic email alerts when a user's credit report or score changes and show them how to effectively dispute possible errors that can severely damage their credit report.

How to Save on Pharmaceutical Drugs

Whether it is for the common cold or something requiring more medical attention, patients turn to pharmaceutical drugs prescribed by their doctors in an effort to alleviate their symptoms, manage illnesses, and prevent further problems down the line. The drugs manufactured today are truly a miracle of science; in the most recent cases, they are a culmination of the centuries of medical research and practice by the human race.

Even though these pharmaceutical drugs are vital to our health and well being, they usually don't come without a price tag that would normally put the medicines out of reach for most people. Luckily, this problem has been combated and addressed through a variety of programs. When a new drug is created, the product is usually not available in the less-expensive generic form for a period of time. To help make these drugs more accessible, many doctors can provide samples to their patients in need, or alternatively, the pharmaceutical companies themselves may be able to provide assistance to qualified individuals.

For those who hold health care coverage through their jobs or other programs, these drugs are often available through a vastly discounted out-of-pocket expense; after covering a co-pay, insurance will pay the remaining cost. This co-pay amount varies based on the type of coverage you have and the drugs covered. Where prescriptions are filled can also have a big effect on final price; some co-pays, especially for generics, are less via online programs or discount pharmacies. Once a certain time period has passed, brand name drugs are often converted into generic form at a reduced price tag; this is due to a company's drug patent expiring. When this happens, the savings passed along to individuals is often even more beneficial, especially for those whom don't have insurance.

Preparation Enhances Your Travel Experience

Travelling without order will make you nuts. Organization is the only way to keep from being thrown on the crazy train. You need to get things under control so you can enjoy your trip and not be a mess the entire time. After all, you're spending good money, taking time off, and going to a lot of effort: you should be able to have a good time too!

If you are travelling with budgetary constraints, start your trip out on the right foot by using a price comparison website online. You can often even get discounts if you look around. Expedia coupons are a great way to get an instant discount and they're easy to find.

Figure out what your destination is like and then keep that in mind as you decide which things you'll need on your trip. If you are going to a cold climate and your child has never experienced that, you will need to get climate appropriate clothing. If your swimming suit is in tatters and you are headed to Hawaii, then take care of that ahead of time. Being prepared means you have the luxury to shop around and get exactly what you want for the price you want to pay for it. If you see a fabulous but expensive swimming suit in your hotel's boutique, you can get it if you truly want it and believe it is worth the price, but you won't be unduly pressured into getting it out of necessity.

Know what you want to spend your money on. Are you a foodie who wants to eat at that celebrity chef's restaurant? Then plan for it and its cost. Find local places with great food for very little. Perhaps eating two low cost meals makes room in your budget for glamorous dinners. Make your priorities lead your actions. Don't let being flustered or unprepared control your experience.

When Purchasing A Car

When we purchased our first car ever in 2002, we were really excited. We thought of getting a hatchback type of car like scion xd. But after looking around, hubby was keen on purchasing cars as sleek as the bmw 6 series. If you ask me, I think suburu forester models are nice! They are a crossover between station wagons and sedans. Hubby also thought of getting cars which looked elegant like mini clubman.

But in the end, we weighed our options before making a decision. We listed down the criteria which we thought were important when purchasing a car. We wanted a car which has parts which are readily replaceable, we wanted to make sure we have heard good reviews as well. And of course, we wanted to a trusted brand when it comes to vehicles.

Purchasing a car for the family is also a very important and tough decision to make but if we study our options well, I am sure we can get the best car for our family!

Thankful Thursday # 28

This week, I am thankful to God because we were able to find a physical education class that my daughter loves! We enrolled her in ballet class and she has been enjoying since. It is also accessible because it is only a few blocks away from our house.

Aside from that, I am thankful that we were able to pay off our credit card debts, finally! Thank God for the wisdom that came our way...

Women Pajamas!

Ever since I was young, I have loved wearing pajamas. That is why my mom and my sister loves to give me pajamas. Now that I have kids, I still wear pajamas to sleep!

It really is comfortable to wear women's pajamas. I was so glad to find the womens pajamas online shop because there are all sorts of pajamas available. One can easily buy women's pajamas from the different kinds of pajamas available like the flannel pajamas or organic cotton pajamas or themal pajamas! They even have low prices!

It is interesting to note that pajamas doesn't need to be boring to look at or expensive. Women pajama's have definitely evolved!

Don't Worry. Be Covered. Insure Your Above Ground Pool.

Above ground pools can be a pleasure and a nuisance for a homeowner. The combined responsibilities of maintaining the pool and upgrading your homeowner’s insurance policy could give anybody the miseries. There are barriers, not walls, between you and an above ground pool. However, if you plan to install an above ground pool on your property, you’ll need a nice, tall barrier preventing uninvited guests from inviting themselves to your private oasis.

Your fence and gate need to be childproof. Given how resourceful children are, that means adult-proof too. Your best bet is a lock and key. The fence and gate have to be tall enough to protect trespassers from themselves. An alarm and floodlights hooked to a motion detector will frighten strangers in the night, but your alarm may alert from the neighbor’s cat. Despite false alarms, the dual lock and alarm system is as effective as a physical deterrence can be.

Protect yourself, too. If some scoundrel does get past your crocodile filled moat, you’re responsible if they injure themselves. You’re responsible even if they fall from the diving board. Make sure your policy has as high a limit for drowning as you can afford, as well as personal injury coverage in and around the pool. Don’t ask your agent if you have the coverage. Read your policy for the actual wording so you know where you stand if there’s trouble.

While you have your homeowner’s policy out of the desk drawer and dusted off, make sure you’re covered if anything happens to the pool itself. If your above-ground pool falls onto the ground, your policy may not pay to replace it. To avoid winter damage, empty the pool before it becomes a skating rink. Add pool coverage to your homeowner’s policy if you can. If you can’t add coverage to your current policy, find a policy that has the coverage you need.

What Does Accepting Jesus Christ Mean?

The preaching on Sunday reminded us what "accepting Jesus Christ" as Lord and Savior really means. It is not just merely saying it, but really making Jesus your all in all, it is making Jesus your life! He becomes everything to us. He is the bread that sustains us... the water that quenches our thirst.

We've Started!

We have started homeschooling yesterday, it has been an exciting journey so far... Kyla said that she enjoyed and she even told me that I teach good. I am glad that she has taken the beginning of this journey positively. I believe I can be more prepared so I got to adjust some more. I am learning a lot about time management and balancing my day.

June is Here!

Half of the year 2010 is over! Can you believe that? Time passes by so fast. In a few more sleeps, Christmas would be here and the year would be over. It is moments like these that makes me want treasure every moment I have with my family. We all don't know what tomorrow brings.... so instead of worrying what tomorrow will bring and how we are going to pay off our bills and debts, I will choose to pray and lift all my worries to God. I will also choose to be thankful for everything that He has blessed me with!
