Seize the Moment!

Seize the moment. Opportunity comes knocking only once. If you know that God has been telling you to do it, don't be afraid to take that step. If you fail, it is okay, God already knows what will happen in the future... He will use that to teach you something you need to learn.

WFW - Genesis 6:22

When we think about Noah's actions back then... he must really looked like a fool to other people for obeying God. Is God asking you to take that road less traveled? Is God asking you to make that unpopular but right decision? If God is asking you to do something, don't hesitate. Remember Noah obeyed and he and his whole household were saved from the flood.

The Technology Around Us

Technology has really evolved in the way we communicate with one another and even the way we work. Social media has made people more connected and updated with one another. We are more global that we have ever been. Distance is no longer an issue with the internet and moboe phones around us.

Thus, fast network connection is a must in offices and even in schools and homes. We can now connect to the network faster if we have reliable cat-5 cable on our workstations. We can also connect our computers to our hi definition TV sets using DVI to HDMI cables. Now isn't that interesting that machines are now working together and being used simultaneously? We can be working on our computers and showing our outputs or presentations using our TV sets. I am not a very technical person when it comes to cables and stuff but the Optimization-World.com HDMI cables are known to be high quality cables and can be used to send signals from HDMI to DVI too.

With all these technology in hand, we should be all the more inspired to work! Let us not take for granted the technological blessings God has given us. Let us all work hard and help one another achieve our goals.

Be An Encourager!

I am joining this week's project from Fixing Your Heart on Titus 2 from At The Well. We are already on project 4. Our project this week is to be an encourager. This is something that I really love doing though I often forget to do it! So this week, I am intentionally going to be an encourager!

Here are some suggestions :

to share your words with someone as an encouragement. Send a card to someone. Write a letter. Send a quick e-mail sharing your gratitude. Call someone just to say, “Hi.”

This week, be intentional each day and choose to lift up a woman in your life (daughter, sister, mother, friend, neighbor, etc…).

Budgeting Advice

Having a full time pastor for a husband means doing more home budget planning. That is what I have learned for the past year that my hubby has been in full time pastoring ministry. We have enough for our basic needs but of course, we also have some emergency needs and other educational needs too. We also need to save for our retirement too.

I have read some budgeting advice over the internet. One of the more useful advices that I have received is to make a list of the family's expenses then categorize them as "wants" or "needs". Then create a budget based on the family's needs. You can use paper and pen or you can use free budget planner.

You can generate reports which will show you where you are overspending. Then you can start making changes on the way you spend. Instead of buying food from restaurants or staying at coffee shops, you can opt to stay at home and enjoy your cup of coffee right at your own house. This will plan out how you spend your money. You can also plan to save at least 10% of your monthly income so that you will have saved some money by the end of the year.

We are still struggling but slowly, with the help of the Lord, I know we shall be able to save for our emergencies and retirement.

These are inspirational moments for me. Family bonding is what inspires a mom like me. Whatever we do, even if it is just a walk in the park like what we did today, or sharing a laugh together... it is enough to brighten my day!

Happy weekend!

Thankful Thursday #50

I am thankful that even when health issues are arising in my family, God is always faithful to provide finances, wisdom and miracles of healing upon my family.
My dad is still in the hospital due to a recent surgery but thank God that he is slowly recovering.
I have had allergy colds for the past weeks but thank God that I am slowly improving too.

It is so easy to talk about loving one another... but the Bible has warned us. Let us love one another with actions and in truth. That is the mandate. So we should regularly check our hearts and our lives - are we living the talk?

Prayers for Our Children

I am joining this week's project from Fixing Your Heart on Titus 2 from At The Well. We are already on project 3 and we are praying for our children this week.

Here are the things we are to pray for our children:

Monday: That they will know Christ early in life (Psalm 63:1; 2 Timothy 3:15)

Tuesday: That they will respect those in authority over them (Romans 13:1)

Wednesday: That they will desire the right kind of friends (Proverbs 1:10; 13:20)

Thursday: That they will be protected from the evil one in each area of their lives – spiritual, emotional, and physical (John 17:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Friday: That they, as well as those they marry, will be kept pure until marriage (1 Corinthians 6:14-17)

Saturday: That they will learn to totally submit to God and resist Satan (James 4:7)

Sunday: That they will be single-hearted, willing to be sold out to Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1-2)

Scrub Clothing

After being hospitalized last year, I noticed that the nurses and the medical professionals now wear different kind of scrub clothing. They seem to be more comfortable and fashionable than previous ones. I've seen uniforms which looked awkward and uncomfortable but these nursing scrubs from blue sky scrubs looks nice and elegant.

They offer out of the ordinary designs and colors of the uniforms and even attractive scrub caps. They also offer other products like jackets, shirts and other accessories. If you know of medical professionals, these would be wonderful gift ideas to them. You can purchase gift certificates or even order for them.

Now would be a good time to purchase since they are offering free shipping on orders worth $155 or more.

Love One Another

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

My New Year Thoughts

The new year always brings new hope... for some of us, it is a chance to do things better while for others it may be about new plans and pursuing new dreams. But for most of us, the passion to do something new doesn't last the whole year through. We maybe excited for the first few months but rarely do we get to finish the tasks we have set our minds on. As life gets moving, we become busy and we lose sight of our goal. We lose our perseverance and our determination to finish what we have started.

We should commit our plans to the Lord and seek His guidance every step of the way. Even better, let us pray before we make plans so that when we create our plans for the coming year, it is aligned to the will of the Lord for our lives. This would really help us in achieving our goals.

As a new year begins, I pray that may we use this time wisely to think about our lives and our goals. Let us seek the Lord and live our lives intentionally this 2011!
