Making Your Home Sing : Sibling Rivalry

Making your home sing Mondays

How do I make my home sing today? As a Stay At Home Mom to my 2 kids who are under 6 years old, my days most of the time are a riot. One minute, the 2 are like best friends and the next, they are shouting at each other and my little boy hits his big sister. It can get really tough. They fight about toys, space or attention! I know that this is a phase that kids go through, but I like them to learn from this phase. Sometimes, I let them "fight" it out but most of the time, I step in before it gets physical. My 2 year old still doesnt understand "sharing" so it can be quite hard. I have to be consistent and impartial in dealing with both of them. I try to cuddle my 2 year old when he is getting unreasonable and distract him. While my 5 year old, I talk with her. Give her other options.

I try to read books on parenting, good websites and the Bible to get more insights as to how I can deal with sibling rivalry. I know that God has tasked me to be the mom to these 2 kids and I have to do my job as a mother to train these children the way God wants me to.

Prov 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

My post today is a song from Michael Jackson. I grew up listening to his songs and watching his MTVs. Though his life was questionable, his music definitely will be forever remembered.

Thankful Thursday # 3

Today, I am thankful that God provides for all our needs. Being a Stay At Home mom, I don't have a stable income. God has used this circumstances to show me His greatness and that He will take care of me.

I thank Him that He gives me regular customers who buy mobile phone loads. I thank Him that He gives me paid blogging opportunities at my other blog. I thank Him that He uses other people to bless us financially. I thank Him that my husband has a regular job and been a great provider for our family the past 5 years that I have been a Stay At Home mom.

How about you? What are you thankful for today?

Just like a child who is care free and unafraid to face the world because she is secure in the love of her parents, we should be the same. Joyful, brave and secure in the love of the Father.

Laughter

As I was reading Laurie's entry today at Women Taking A Stand. I was reminded of how laughter should be part of our daily lives. Especially if we truly have Christ in our hearts, joy is a fruit of the spirit that should be evident in our life everyday.

I was humbled of how busy and how stressed I am that most of the time, I actually forget to laugh with my kids. There are times that they just enjoy each other's company and they laugh, but because I had so many things that I want to finish or accomplish, I dont join them at all. Even when I am a SAHM, I know that I have missed several opportunities of just enjoying their childhood and just laughing...

There is a great quotation that I came across with recently about laughter, and I would like to share it with you. It is by E. E. Cummings, and he said "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."

What a reminder... How about you? Have you laughed with your kids today?

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4

Making Your Home Sing : Lunch Dilemna

Making your home sing Mondays

I definitely think this Monday meme is a challenge! We are to post about what we are doing to make our home sing... so every Monday, I really think about what I want to do this week to make my home a better place for my family.

My daughter has just started school again and from morning class she is now in the 11am-2pm class. It is a tough adjustment since she has to take her lunch at school. My daughter is a picky eater and for the past week, she has only finished her food once. I am worried because she might lose more weight and might be hungry and become inattentive in school.

Well, instead of worrying about this, since I can be a worry wart at times. I have started to pray about it and ask God's wisdom first. I will try to use different container to see if the food will stay warm. Or I could try to let her eat lunch at the house before going to school and just let her bring snacks.

I know my post is very trivial but for me, its kind of occupying a big space in my mind.... In little things, most of the time, I just go-go-go, but as I have learned in the past, I should always pray to God for wisdom about all things.

Gracious Giving

We truly have a great God...

Today I experienced God's goodness - financially. I gave my offerings to the church. I haven't been able to give for the longest time so when I was able to collect a bit of money, God prompted that I give a certain amount. With no second thoughts, even if we are financially tight, I gave what I had. I just really wanted to offer God something that costs me. God gave me a surprise. Before the day was over, God has given back the amount I gave 10 folds. I didn't even realize it until we came home.

He is amazing! Truly gracious! This is such an encouragement! This is just a product of obedience. Obeying God is really worth it!

So thankful to you Lord, for allowing me to experience your goodness and grace today.

Making your home sing Mondays

Making Your Home Sing Monday meme is hosted by my friend Nan! Today, I am finally able to join her meme!

"Every day we are doing something to make our house into a home. What am I doing or going to do today to make my home sing?

It can be an attitude or an action. Motivation, our attitude, baking, encouraging our husband or children (if we have either one), organization, cleaning, saving money....the opportunities are endless."

I have been a stay at home mom for the past 5 years. Aside from the privilege of being a hands on mom, I recently started to use the opportunity of teaching my kids the importance of reading the Bible and praying. God reminded me the reason I wanted to be a stay at home mom. Not only so I can watch them grow and know them intimately but also to guide them and teach them the Word of God.

We started a new routine at our home. Every morning after we take a bath, we would sit down together and read the children's Bible. I will read them the story and explain it to them so they understand. Afterward, we pray together. I believe that starting this habit early in their life is very beneficial and also the Word of God is being taught more clearly.

A Movie That Made Me Cry...

I recently watched the movie Marley and Me. Have you watched it?

It was one of the movies which made me cry a bucket of tears!
Probably, its because several things in the movie connected with me...
We used to have a dog. His name was Jabez. He was a basset hound. He was our first baby. I was so sad when we had to give him away because I was pregnant and couldnt care for him anymore. We had to move back to my mom's place for a while and no one can care for him... :(
Marley just made me laugh as he reminded me so much of how Jabez used to be and Marley made me cry too...

Just to show you, here is a picture of Jabez..
Another is when Jen, the wife of the lead character, became a Stay At Home Mom. I think they were able to portray some aspects of being a Stay At Home Mom pretty well.

I also liked how John, the lead character, really loved his family and treated Marley as part of the family.

It was a real tearjerker! Though it made me cry...
I definitely think that its a great movie to watch!

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays - Enough

I just love this song! God you are more than enough for me....
This song is entitled Enough, sang by Chris Tomlin.

And all of you
Is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you is more than enough

You are my supply
My breath of life
Still more awesome than I know.
You are my reward
Worth living for
Still more awesome than I know.

And all of you
Is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you is more than enough

You're my sacrifice
Of greatest price
Still more awesome than I know.
You're my coming King
You're my everything
Still more awesome than I know.

And all of you
Is more than enough for
All of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you is more than enough
You are more than enough.

More than all I want
More than all I need
You are more than enough for me.
More than all I know
More than all I can see
You are more than enough for me.
More than all I want
More than all I need
You are more than enough for me.
More than all I know
More than all I can see
You are more than enough.

All of you
Is more than enough for
All of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you. (Oh Yeah)
And all I have in you. (Jesus)
And all I have in you is more than enough.
More than enough.

Thankful Thursday # 1

Today, I would like to thank the Lord for his grace. I am so grateful that my Christian life is not about my works or anything to do with me, it is all about Him. He is the one who holds me and He never lets me go.

I am also thankful that I am a stay at home mom. It has been my dream since I was a kid to personally raise my kids and with my hubby's support, it has been a very fruitful and rewarding experience.

I am blessed to have a husband who is responsible and passionate in seeking God. He has led our family closer to God and to study His word passionately and diligently.

I am also thankful for the internet connection we have at home, it has allowed me to share my thoughts on my blogs and connect with people.

How about you? What are you thankful for today?

Ephesians 1:4-5

(image is from http://www.heartlight.org/)

For He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.
Ephesians 1:4-5

What a great reminder for us... God chose us even before we were born. We are therefore to live our lives -- holy and blameless since this is what he destined us to be!

Never Be Afraid

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
Corrie ten Boom

Most of the time, we are afraid to step out of the boat because we don't know who God really is. I believe that if one spends enough time with God, one will get to know Him. When we really know Him, we won't be afraid of the unknown. We rest on His character to face our daily challenges.

What I Learned From Do Hard Things #1

I was blessed with a good book recently. The Book's Title is Do Hard Things. I will post several posts about the lessons I learned from this book. I really think its a good book, not only for the youth but for us adults as well! It pushes one to think and rethink about how you have lived your life so far and what changes you can make... it is never too late!

What does the Bible say about teenagers... according to authors Alex and Brett Harris, none.

There is no mention of the word teenagers or adolescence in the scripture. Instead what we will see is 1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me." I think that is a good point. God expects us to be a child when we are children then as young adults, we are to act as adults. No in between like what culture has taught us... It doesn't mean though that teeners are not going to experience any adjustments or hardships, but how will one react through these changes is what the Bible addressed. In 1 Tim 4:12 it says "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays - Jesus Take The Wheel

Life is hard. Especially when we carry all our problems and burdens. This song reminds me that Jesus has taken the wheel of my life. He is in control. As the song says...

"Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel"

Is Your Marriage Fireproof?

"Fireproof doesn't mean the fire will never come. It means when the fire comes that you will be able to withstand it. " - Fireproof

The other day, I posted a song taken from the movie Fireproof. Fireproof is a movie about a man's desire to transform his life and marriage. It stars Kirk Cameron. He plays a heroic fire captain. He saves people's lives and is well respected in his work. But his marriage is failing. His wife is already filing a divorce. What did he he do to save his marriage? Well I don't want to spoil the movie so I'll leave it there.

I think it is a good movie. Kirk Cameron did a good job, unfortunately I didn't like the acting of Erin Bethea. She played the role of the wife. But aside from that, I think its a good movie to watch, especially for married couples. It tackles a lot of the every day issues between a husband and wife. What I like best in the movie is the portion where the Love Dare challenge was given.
Someday, I might take the challenge myself. We were blessed when someone gave us the Love Dare book. The Love Dare challenge is something the spouse had to do for his partner without expecting anything in return.

Anyway, I recommend this movie. We rarely see a movie with positive moral values nowadays. And besides, its a good date movie with hubby, as you get to reflect on your own marriage after.

Life is Like Puzzle...

Life is like a puzzle. Each day is a piece of puzzle. We can't appreciate each piece of the puzzle without looking at the bigger picture it gives us. Every color and design can't be seen clearly because we have limited perspective. Same with life, we can't appreciate the trials and what life brings us each day when we only look at each trial every time. We need to step back, and look at life from a bigger perspective. Then we would see what God has been doing all along.
