Thoughts After the Storm

With the recent typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) leaving the country in a disaster, it has truly been an eye opener to most Filipinos. God has reminded me quite a few things since Saturday. Instead of my usual Word Filled Wednesday entry, I want to share with you my thoughts...

Be thankful for what you have now. The simple joys of life is what really matters. Never take them for granted. Family is most important. Life can be over in a blink of an eye. We must be ready to face our Maker, anytime. Have you invested your life on what really matters? God is Sovereign. He allows things to happen, for a cause. Live your life with meaning and purpose. Everyday is a gift from God.

Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes : For The Entire Family

The theme this week is FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. The first movie that I thought about is Cheaper by the Dozen of Steve Martin. I loved this movie!

Plot of the movie: With his wife doing a book tour, a father of twelve must handle a new job and his unstable brood. (From IMDB.COM)

Family oriented movie that you shouldn't miss! If you haven't seen this movie, you should include this on your must-see list :D

Amidst the strong rains Saturday, my son went to his cabinet and threw all his clothes on the floor! What started out as chaos, ended in order. The chaos had a purpose!

We started to fold and we decided to fix his clothes and remove clothes that didn't fit and clothes he doesn't like to wear . Now we have something to give to the victims of the recent typhoon Ondoy. It was great that aside from having clothes to donate, the cabinet now looks neat too.

Girls Talk: Women Over Men

Niko's new meme is on its 2nd week. This new meme is exclusively for girls every Thursday!
It has a weekly theme so drop by Girls Rule often!

The theme for this week is what women can do that men cannot!
Let’s show them why we girls are over boys :)

Women can multi-task at home. Feed the kids, cook the food, wash the laundry.

Women have intuition or gut-feel which most of the time is correct!

Women can empathize with others more often than not.

Women can walk and shop around, getting the best deals!

Women are not afraid to ask for help.

Women are God's gift to men. Without women, no one is there to support them.

How about you? Why do you love being a girl?

Tuesday Couch Potatoes : Robot / Cyborg

The theme for this week is ROBOT/CYBORG movie... My pick is The Terminator.

I know its a pretty old movie since it came out 1984. I didn't see it then but years after.. and I think it definitely made a breakthrough in cinema and the plot was original too... It started a movie franchise which become top Hollywood movies.

Here is a brief overview of the movie taken from Wikipedia.

The film takes place in 1984, introducing the concept of a "terminator", specifically the titular character (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a seemingly unstoppable cyborg assassin who has been sent back from the year 2029 by a collective of artificially intelligent computer-controlled machines bent on the extermination of the human race. The Terminator's mission is to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) whose future son, John Connor, leads a resistance against the machines. A human, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), is also sent back from the future by John Connor himself to protect her.

Niko is starting a new meme exclusively for girls every Thursday! It has a weekly theme so drop by Girls Rule often!

The theme for this week is I LOVE ME: Why you love being a girl?

I love it that I can dress up if I want to and wear comfortable clothes when I need to.
I love it that I have the privilege of getting pregnant, bearing babies and nurturing them.
I love it that girls are treated special most of the time.
I love it that girls are, most of the time, more mature than boys of the same age.
I love it that girls tend to be more organized...
I love being a girl because ... its the way God made me!

Come, follow me. Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.

Web Hosting Reviews

I just recently celebrated my 1st blogiversary on my parenting site. After blogging for a year now, I have realized that if you want to have a visible and successful site, you need to blog hop regularly, leave comments and have your own domain name. People will remember your site easily and you will definitely gain regular visitors. Of course, advertisement is also important. But I think having a reliable web host is the most important aspect. The contents of your site should be secure and should be accessible all the time.

Its really great that there are sites like FindMyHosting.com who study and gives in-depth reviews on the top 10 best web hosting companies. Reliability, affordability, uptime, features and overall support are the basis of the reviews. Aside from the reviews, It also has a learning area about the basics of webhosting. It also has a FAQ section where the most common questions are answered. It also gives us a brief overview of the different webhosting companies. It shows us a comparison chart where the prices , customer support and features are displayed about each webhosting company.

Now, deciding which web hosting company to choose has never been this easy!

Math Help For Everyone

I have always loved learning! In fact, I loved it when it was time to go to school. I remembered when I was still in high school, I would look forward to school days rather than weekends. Maybe because I loved being with my friends but aside from that, it was because I know I was going to learn something new.

College days were really exciting for me. It was great to be independent and learn new things. I had high grades in college but there were some math subjects that I didn't do well in like Calculus and Quantitative Analysis. If only I was aware hat online math help was available, I would have gotten its services! I have gotten math help from friends then but it would have been better, if I got online math tutoring from experts.

TutorVista offers online tutoring specifically for grade school, high school and college students. They have several packages and unlimited tutoring for all subjects being offered at reasonable prices! So if you need math help, do try to check out TutorVista since they offer free demo to first time users so you can check out their services!

Thankful Thursday # 14

Thank you Lord for another week of your faithfulness!

This week I am thankful for my daughter's good 1st quarter grades and good behavior in school!
I am glad and thankful that she enjoys learning. She loves school. Aside from her school, we also do "homeschool" informally every morning. She loves it as we read the Bible together, study it, memorize scriptures and make some art work together.

(this is a picture of her teacher's remarks on her 1st quarter performance)

How about you? What are you thankful for today?

Another Milestone!

I can’t believe it! My 2 year old can now sing the alphabet song! I heard him sing it on his own this afternoon when I asked him to sing the alphabet song. Though there are still some unclear letters, he was able to sing the majority of the song! It was a waste that I wasn’t able to capture it on video though.

Where has the time gone? I still remember buying nursery furniture, activity sets and infant clothing for him. Now, he is more interested in toys and books. He also loves to choose his own clothes now. He wants to pick his own shirts from the cabinet. Sometimes, he also chooses clothes for his sister too! He certainly has grown! I think it is time to share or keep most of the baby and toddler products lying in their room.

These are the bittersweet moments of a mother’s journey.

Thoughts.com

Blogging and social networking has become an integral part of one’s cyberlife. It is through these type of venues that we are able to become updated with latest business news, product reviews and all sorts of news. We can also link up with others who have the same opinion as we do and old friends who we haven’t met in several years.

Thoughts.com is a very active social conversation site. It is like a community bulletin board. You can post your blogs, photos, videos and upload your own podcast for free! There is an area where you can post polls and surveys. One of the most active places in Thoughts.com is the discussion forums. You can easily navigate your way through the topic you are interested in. They also have a news section where you can discuss breaking news or the most recent controversial news.

The aim of Thoughts.com is that we all can learn from our experiences and our society can change through these shared experiences. It is also interesting that it has a “one love policy” wherein the people are required to be respectful of others and their opinions. This makes Thoughts.com one of the most interactive communities on the web.

What a great reminder for me today... Our life here on our earth is only temporal...
we are going to face judgment one day and I am so blessed that Christ took my sins away. By his grace, I can eagerly wait for the day that he will come back, so I can be with him.

Friday Photo Flashback # 19

This was me taken 10 years ago.
I was the overhead projector girl during worship services. That was my main ministry involvement, aside from being part of the youth staff then. I remember attending the music ministry practices so I can arrange the acetates that will be used for the worship services. It was fun and a service that I really liked doing since I never liked to be on center stage.
